Још једно подсећање на америчке изборе – Ross Perot и “Огроман усисни звук”
Тексашки бизнисмен Рос Перо (Henry Ross Perot) је 1992. био независни кандидат за председника САД, заједно са Џорџом Бушом и Билом Клинтоном. На њима је остварио најбољи резултат икада за једног независног кандидата (укупно 18,9% гласова, али 0 електора). Јуна исте године, водио је по истраживањима јавног мњења испред оба конкурента. Mеђутим, током јула, због сукоба са менаџерима своје кампање, као и неких не до краја разјашњених закулисних радњи, објавио је повлачење из трке, у коју се касније (1. октобра) вратио.
На видео клипу доле је снимак говора из кога је остао упамћен његов израз “Giant sucking sound” (огроман усисни звук). Мисли се на звук одлазећих радних места. Вреди погледати овај снимак и сцену у којој доларски милијардер објашњава замке неолибералне глобализације и “слободне трговине”, те да профит не сме бити једини покретач пословања. А где се све одиграва поред 2 државна службеника, који би ваљда пре њега требало да имају слуха за јавни интерес.
Трансисторијском иронијом судбине, управо је супруга победника тих избора, 24 године касније, изгубила од једног другог милијардера, који је у својој кампањи обилато користио чињеницу да је предсказање о огромном усисном звуку остварено.
